10月に終わり頃の談山神社（Tanzan Shrine）。
吊灯籠の個々の模様を眺めるのもいとおかし。
なぜ蝉？
①蝉は長い間（数年間）土の中で過ごしたあと、地上に出てきて羽化（脱皮）します。この生態が、古代中国や日本の仏教文化において「再生」や「不老不死（魂の永続）」の象徴として神聖視された。
➁蝉は一度木にしがみつくと、ピタッと張り付いて離れません。
この性質にあやかって、「門の扉がしっかりと閉まり、開かなくなるように（泥棒や外敵が入らないように）」という防犯の願いが込められている。
➂多くの雨が降るように激しく鳴く様子から「蝉時雨（せみしぐれ）」という言葉が生まれたように、古くから「雨（水）」を連想させる生き物とされえきて、
巨大な木造建築を火災から守るための「お守り（呪術的な意味合い）」として、水を呼び込む象徴である蝉がこの様に取り付けられる。

🚇 Public Transportation Guide
1. Kintetsu-Nara Station ⇒ JR-Nara Station
- How to move: Walk (10–15 minutes, about 900m) or take a local city bus (5 minutes).
- Tip: Going by train from Kintetsu-Nara Station requires multiple complex transfers at Yamato-Saidaiji and Yamato-Yagi stations. Walking to JR-Nara Station and taking a direct train to Sakurai is highly recommended to avoid getting lost.
2. JR-Nara Station ⇒ JR Sakurai Station (Train)
- Line: JR Manyo-Mahoroba Line (Sakurai Line) bound for “Takada” or “Oji”.
- Time: Approx. 30 minutes.
- Fare: 330 yen.
3. Sakurai Station (South Exit) ⇒ Tanzan Shrine (Bus)
- Bus Stop: Sakurai Station South Exit, Bus Stop No. 1.
- Bus: Sakurai City Community Bus (Tofumine Line) bound for “Tanzan Jinja”.
- Time: Approx. 25 minutes (Get off at the last stop “Tanzan Jinja”, then walk 3 minutes).
- Fare: 570 yen.
- Tip: Buses only run about once an hour. Please check the bus schedule in advance to match your train arrival.
- ※ Taxis are also available from the South Exit (takes about 15 minutes, costs around 3,000–3,500 yen).
